Though made from concrete the Lentil house can take on board up to 200 ton load (and the water then reaches the equator line of the shell). On flooding it floats. Having active anchors it returns to the original position after the water is gone.
- Having no intention to travel fast on water
- Being massive and aero-water-dynamic
- Having a waterline beneath the equator of the shell
The lentil house is very steady on high water!
To prove these facts the authors have manufactured a prototype in scale 1:10 of the Lentil house and tested it in a lake. The results did not only prove the calculations, but brought great pleasure to the investigators: if you have the opportunity to download a 24MB short video, then it is here in your service...
